The pigment is implanted in a durable manner in the superficial dermis. Contrary to popular belief, freckles will not disappear 100% like magic after a few years, except on rare skin types. They will simply fade, soften, and lighten naturally over time, with the renewal of your skin and sun exposure. The only way to make them disappear will be to undergo Laser Removal sessions.
That is why regular maintenance (Maintenance) is recommended as needed to revive their shine.
Laser is strictly prohibited: If you are planning laser treatments on the face (resurfacing, hair removal, spot treatment), the tattooed area must be absolutely and totally avoided. The passage of a laser will instantly destroy the work done on Freckles.
Immediately after the session, your freckles will appear very dark, sharp, and prominent, with redness (the "mosquito bite" effect). This is the normal inflammatory phase. During the first week, tiny little scabs will form and fall off, leaving a softened, powdered, and much lighter result..
Don't panic: Surface healing takes about 7 to 10 days (the time for the small scabs to fall off naturally). However, complete stabilization of the pigment under the skin takes 4 to 6 weeks.
During this phase, your spots will fade compared to the first day, and some may temporarily seem to "disappear" before resurfacing.
The healing of the Freckle Tattoos goes through several normal stages that may surprise: redness and swelling on the day, very dark scabs in the first days, then the impression that the spots have completely "disappeared" by the 5th day before reappearing softer. All of this is 100% normal.
- When to worry? If you feel intense and persistent heat after 48h, swelling that worsens instead of decreasing, sharp pain to the touch, or if you observe thick oozing (yellow or greenish), yellowish scabs, these are signs of infection or allergy.
- The Velvet Myst protocol: Never stay in doubt and do not attempt to self-medicate with inappropriate creams. Healthy and well-hydrated skin retains pigments much better and bleeds less:
- 1 week before: Stop all direct sun exposure, tanning, and self-tanners on the face.
- 1 week before: Stop retinol and exfoliating acids. Intensively hydrate your face every day.
- 48h before: Avoid aspirin and anti-inflammatories (Advil/Ibuprofen).
- 24h before: Do not consume any alcohol and avoid caffeine (coffee, tea, energy drinks) to limit bleeding that expels the pigment.
The success of the treatment depends 50% on your home care:
- Keep the area perfectly clean and apply an ultra-thin layer of the recommended healing cream.
- Ne grattez jamais, ne frottez pas et n'arrachez pas les petites croûtes qui se forment, sous peine de créer des trous dans le motif ou des cicatrices.

Since our treatments rely on a controlled micro-injury to force the skin to repair itself, an overactive or weakened immune system can compromise healing. A written authorization from your specialist doctor is absolutely required before making an appointment.
The session must be refused or postponed if you are affected by:
- Type 1 or uncontrolled diabetes: It significantly slows down cell regeneration and greatly increases the risk of infection.
- Coagulation disorders: Hemophilia or daily use of anticoagulants.
- A treatment for severe acne (Roaccutane / Accutane / Isotretinoin): You must have completely stopped this treatment for at least 6 to 12 months, as it drastically thins and weakens the skin.
- An ongoing oncological treatment: Chemotherapy, radiotherapy or immunotherapy. The body must have recovered (generally 6 months after the end of the protocols) and your oncologist must provide written consent.
Intensive exercise is prohibited during the first 5 days.
